BarTender enhances the scroll bars on the Macintosh by the following functions :
• Double-Clicking the scroll box (the thumb) brings it and the corresponding document view back to their previous positions. This function can be used to flip between two scroll positions.
• Shift-Double-Clicking the scroll box brings it back to its even earlier positions. Up to 10 former scroll positions are saved. Sequential Shift-Double-Clicks would cycle all the saved positions one by one. Within the sequence, a Double-Click (without Shift) would flip back to where you start.
• Shift-Clicking the up and down arrows brings the scroll box to the top and bottom respectively.
• Shift-Clicking any gray area brings the scroll box to the cursor position immediately, bypassing the step of dragging.
Install BarTender
BarTender is an INIT. To install it, simply drag the file 'BarTender' into the System Folder (System 4.1 or later) and restart your Macintosh. Later on, the installation of BarTender can be suppressed by pressing 'SHIFT' or mouse button when it is loaded.
Known Problems
BarTender is incompatible with MicroSoft Excel and HyperCard's scrolling field. Besides, some scroll bars in modal dialogs (ex. Standard Open Dialog) would fail to perform the shift-arrows and shift-gray-area functions. There is no workaround for the above at this time.
BarTender may fail to work smoothly with SuperPaint 2.0 on some machines. This kind of problems may be fixed in later versions.
To use with ScrollLimit 1.2, BarTender should be renamed so that at machine start-up, it is loaded AFTER ScrollLimit.
